Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013
These images were captured during rehearsals for the Coronation Night of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013 at Limketkai. I will not have the same opportunity to take shots from so many different locations on the night of the coronation so I thought I would take this opportunity to take a handful of images to capture the shapes and light.
It is unfortunate that I could not capture the sounds that accompanied this dance as the music and narration, telling a story about two ancient tribes of Cagayan de Oro, was absolutely wonderful and so beautifully interpreted by the dance. I am always so emotionally moved by such performances that I had to compose and capture my images whilst ignoring the goosebumps on my arms - even during rehearsal! I am sure it will affect me even more on the night! Beautiful!
The engineers were configuring the lighting as rehearsals progressed so I was not always sure where the light was going to come from! I could have used a small amount of flash fill to better expose the "dark side" but, as usual, I decided that I did not wish to cause any distractions - not even during rehearsals.
Quite pleased with some of these and hope those in them are also. I may well add some from the actual performance on the night but these might all be taken from one location and from the direction of the light source. So all rather conventional :-(
The Dance Director is Mr Roger Ensomo Odron who I hope will pass onto me the name of this troupe. He has already mentioned another performance in September so hopefully I will be able to organize attending and capturing that.
ENJOY! :-)
PS - Sorry about the first couple of shots being "grainy". I was using the half frame camera that has less ISO flexibility than the full frame and forgot! I must pay more attention - but I genuinely was distracted by the dancing ok! lol :-)
