2014 Hotcarz Extreme
I was pleased to be invited along to yet another Hotcarz event, this time the Hotcarz Extreme 2014 Ayala Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro on the 4th and 5th October 2014.
This was a very confined space for such an event but the organiser, Elmer Francisco, managed to get all the entrants in (including access up some stairs!) and, more importantly, positioned them to enable each car to be photographed too!
This was a car audio event meaning the attraction was primarily sound (difficult to capture with a camera!) but also a chance to see some nicely presented customizing at the same time. I chose to capture an image of each vehicle and then images of whatever I liked the look of! Sometimes a speaker, sometimes a mural, sometimes some LED.
Flash photography tends not to capture the scene as it actually appeared to the naked eye so mainly used tripod shots with exposures between 1 and 30 seconds.
One thing I try to do as a photographer is not interfere with the event being photographed. So I neither ask anyone to stage anything nor nor do or not do something. The slight problem I had photographing vehicles with very powerful sound systems is them not standing still! Whilst the image is being taken the sound system is vibrating the vehicle and producing a less than sharp image. Even a 1mm movement on an image of an entire car can be noticed on full size images and some of the sound systems were causing vibrations significantly more than this! Accordingly, I could not take images of all the cars with the sound systems operating. As some of these incorporated lights, this meant some images do not feature lights. It is a poor choice between a great crisp image of a non-illuminated car or a blurry image of an illuminated one! Can’t win lol.
The galleried display area lent itself to some nice overhead shots of both individual cars and the entire display area.
Current work commitments did not allow me to return on the Sunday but as the display would have been identical, I trust these images adequately serve as a record of the event.
If any owners of the vehicles displayed would like to purchase any images of their cars, please email info@clevercaptures.com and let me know your requirements. All images are “as taken” and available in full frame size meaning they are very suitable not just as wall posters but banners and tarpaulins too without any visible distortion.
ENJOY!
