UK Roadster Nationals 2010
Love Mae and I were delighted to be invited along to shoot this event that was brilliantly organised by seemingly life-long buddies, Dave & Lesley :-) Many thanks both! The event was held in the unique location of RAF Twinwood Farm, a Second World War air base used by the Americans (most notably Glenn Miller of course). The area has been retained in its 1940's style and made for a very different venue to display shiny paintwork, polished aluminium and chrome. I never understood why the worlds most beautiful art is displayed in The Louvre, itself a stunning building, where the surroundings almost compete for the attention of the eye. I have always subscribed to hanging around with ugly people so that I look good! And on this basis, the contrast between the vehicles and backdrop was amazing. On certain vehicles it was awesome! Apart from one or two...which blended in so well they almost disappeared!
Having gained experience in the past of shooting cars on entry to an event we set up not one but two "outdoor studios" to cater for two lanes of vehicles with Pre 1980 Roadsters in one and vehicles of special interest in the other. These both worked very well to give us the backdrop and vehicle position that we favoured. Love Mae had the front end of a hangar and I had the flank wall of the same building. We did not take any other images around the site but wish we had. Unfortunately, we had plenty to do so never got around to it. We hope to at the next one though!
Below you will find a single image of each vehicle that stopped for 5 seconds or so in front of one of our lenses. The first image in this gallery is a full width and height sample but I have reduced the quality for uploading. It is only 2.1MB here - the original is 18MB :-) These are in order of appearance in each location. Some images have been post processed and enhanced to better display the vehicle in shot and some have the event logo added too. We hope you enjoy looking through these to see these vehicles in this very unusual setting. We had a great time capturing these and are delighted to have such a great unique collection of car images. Many thanks one and all....oh....if you would like to own a copy of any of these, email us for further details.
ENJOY!
Peter & Love Mae
